Background

Otubains are deubiquitylating cysteine proteases (DUBs, see MIM 602519) that belong to the ovarian tumor (OTU) protein superfamily. Like other DUBs, otubains cleave proteins precisely at the ubiquitin (UB, see MIM 191339)-protein bond.
