Reconstitution
-
It is not recommended to reconstitute to a concentration less than 100 μg/mL.
Dissolve the lyophilized protein in ddH2O.
Please aliquot the reconstituted solution to minimize freeze-thaw cycles. -
Buffer
- Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution of 20 mM MES, 150 mM NaCl, pH 5.5.
-
Handling Advice
- Always centrifuge tubes before opening. Do not mix by vortex or pipetting.
-
Storage
- 4 °C/-20 °C/-80 °C

Storage Comment
-
Lyophilized protein should be stored at < -20°C, though stable at room temperature for 3 weeks.
Reconstituted protein solution can be stored at 4-7°C for 2-7 days.
Aliquots of reconstituted samples are stable at < -20°C for 3 months.

Background
-
Recombinant Human Cystatin-S produced by transfected human cells is a secreted protein with sequence (Ser21Ala141) of Human CST4 fused with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.
Cystatin-S, also called Cystatin-SA-III or Salivary acidic protein, is usually expressed in submandibular and sublingual saliva but not in parotid saliva(at protein level). This protein, which is phosphorylated at both its N- and C-terminal regions, belongs to the cystatin family. Cystatin-S can function as an inhibitor to papain or ficin, it partially inhibits stem bromelain and bovine cathepsin C. -
