Background
- Somatostatin Synthetic is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 14 amino acids, having a molecular mass of 1637.9 Dalton and a Molecular formula of C 76 H 104 N 18 O 19 S 2 . The CAS# is 38916-34-6. Introduction: Somatostatin (also known as growth hormone inhibiting hormone (GHIH) or somatotropin release-inhibiting hormone (SRIF) is a peptide hormone that regulates the endocrine systemand affects neurotransmission and cell proliferation via interaction with G-protein-coupled somatostatin receptors and inhibition of the release of numerous secondary hormones. Somatostatin has two active forms produced by alternative cleavage of a single preproproteinone of 14 amino acids, the other of 28 amino acids. Synonyms: Growth hormone release-inhibiting factor, SST, SMS, SMST, GHIH.
