Background
- CD8 alpha&beta (CD8αβ) is a heterodimeric form of CD8. CD8α is required for surface expression of CD8β. The extracellular IgV-like domain of CD8α interacts with the α3 portion of the class I MHC molecule. CD8αβ is expressed on human peripheral T cells and functions as a coreceptor and can greatly increase the sensitivity and breadth of antigen recognition by CD8+ peripheral T cells bearing TCR.
-
Molecular Weight
- 24.80 kDa (CD8 alpha) and 23.17 kDa (CD8 beta). Due to glycosylation, the protein migrates to 32-38 kDa and 42-50 kDa based on Bis-Tris PAGE result.
