Human Polyclonal MLX Primary Antibody for ELISA, IHC - ABIN4334896
Stoltzman, Peterson, Breen, Muoio, Billin, Ayer: Glucose sensing by MondoA:Mlx complexes: a role for hexokinases and direct regulation of thioredoxin-interacting protein expression. in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America 2008
MLX promotes myogenesis not via an adjustment of glucose metabolism but rather by inducing the expression of several myokines, including insulin-like growth factor 2 (IGF2 (show IGF2 Antibodies))
Glucose is required at two additional steps to stimulate the transcription activation function of MondoA (show MLXIP Antibodies)-Mlx complexes.
Overexpression of dominant negative Mlx improves glucose intolerance by inhibiting expression not only of lipogenic enzymes but also other important genes such as Glucose-6-phosphatase (show G6PC Antibodies) and Elovl6 (show ELOVL6 Antibodies).
MYC (show MYC Antibodies) is part of a network of bHLHLZ proteins centered on the MYC (show MYC Antibodies) heterodimeric partner MAX and its counterpart, the MAX-like protein MLX.
Knockdown of MondoA (show MLXIP Antibodies), or its dimerization partner Mlx, blocks Myc (show MYC Antibodies)-induced reprogramming of multiple metabolic pathways, resulting in apoptosis
Data show that for both MondoA (show MLXIP Antibodies) and Mlx, the C-terminal domain CRM-1 (show XPO1 Antibodies) has cytoplasmic localization activity that is required by the protein monomers to accumulate in the cytoplasm.
Mlx is an obligatory partner of ChREBP (show MLXIPL Antibodies) in regulating lipogenic enzyme genes in liver.
Endogenous MondoA (show MLXIP Antibodies) and Mlx associate with mitochondria in primary skeletal muscle.
The product of this gene belongs to the family of basic helix-loop-helix leucine zipper (bHLH-Zip) transcription factors. These factors form heterodimers with Mad proteins and play a role in proliferation, determination and differentiation. This gene product may act to diversify Mad family function by its restricted association with a subset of the Mad family of transcriptional repressors, namely, Mad1 and Mad4. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
