  1. Research has demonstrated that the DQB1*05:01 allele is more common in sleepwalkers than in the general population.

  2. A possible pathogenic link that HLA-DQ2 (show TOR1A Proteins)/DQ8 positivity, in presence of exogenous still unknown stimuli, may favor an immune condition with detrimental effects during early stages of pregnancy.

  3. HLA-DRB1*04:02, DRB1*14:04, HLA-DQB1* 03:02 and DQB1*05:03 alleles and HLA-DRB1*04:02-DQB1*03:02 and HLA-DRB1*14:04-DQB1*05:03 haplotypes are genetic markers for susceptibility for pemphigus vulgaris, while DRB1*11 allelic group appears protective in Serbian population.

  4. DQB1*05 and HLA-DRB1 (show HLA-DRB1 Proteins)*14 were associated with anti-MUSK (show MUSK Proteins) antibody-positive myasthenia gravis.

  5. Genetic polymorphism of the HLADQB1 gene in Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis patients in combination with carriage of type 16 human papilloma virus can be used for the prognosis of the severity of this disease.

  6. Results identified a novel HLA class II association for flupirtine-induced liver injury (DILI) showing HLA-DRB1*16: 01 and DQB1*05: 02 as novel genetic risk factor for DILI and confirming the important contribution of HLA genotype towards the risk of DILI generally.

  7. The Sonora, Mexico HLA-DQ risk heterodimer proportion was 16.1% for HLA-DQ2 and 13.6% for HLA-DQ8, with an HLA-DQ2:HLA-DQ8 ratio of 1.2:1. The DQ8/DQ2 genotype represented a 1:14 risk for type 1 diabetes, whereas the DQ8/DQB1*0201 combination showed a 1:6 risk for celiac disease.

  8. Letter: HLA-DQB1 promoter polymor- phism (rs9274552) may increase susceptibility to non-segmental vitiligo (show MITF Proteins) in Korean population.

  9. The new alleles (DRB1*03:112, DQB1*03:02:16 and DQB1*03:139)were found after the sequence-based typing of 32 530 random UK European routine blood donors suggesting that each has a maximum carriage frequency of 0.0031% in the blood donor population resident in Wales.

  10. HLA-DQB1*0325 and HLA-DQB1*0332 probably act as cervical cancer susceptibility genes in Uyghur women from Xinjiang; HLA-DQB1*0317 and HLA-DQB1*040302 may be protective genes

HLA-DQB1 Protein Profile

Protein Summary

HLA-DQB2 belongs to the family of HLA class II beta chain paralogs. Class II molecules are heterodimers consisting of an alpha (DQA) and a beta chain (DQB), both anchored in the membrane. They play a central role in the immune system by presenting peptides derived from extracellular proteins. Class II molecules are expressed in antigen presenting cells (APC: B lymphocytes, dendritic cells, macrophages). Polymorphisms in the alpha and beta chains specify the peptide binding specificity, and typing for these polymorphisms is routinely done for bone marrow transplantation. However this gene, HLA-DQB2, is not routinely typed, as it is not thought to have an effect on transplantation. There is conflicting evidence in the literature and public sequence databases for the protein-coding capacity of HLA-DQB2. Because there is evidence of transcription and an intact ORF, HLA-DQB2 is represented in Entrez Gene and in RefSeq as a protein-coding locus.
