Scara5 was downregulated, pointing out this receptor as a potential player implicated in retinopathy and also as a possible therapeutic target.
Defects in fibroblast SCARA5 can underlie some forms of autoimmune disease.
plasma membrane protein SCARA5 can contribute to human hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC (show FAM126A Antibodies)) tumorigenesis and metastasis via activation of the FAK (show PTK2 Antibodies) signaling pathway.
Tesr is differentially expressed in the male vs. female embryonic and postnatal gonad, and may play a role in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells, cell-cell adhesion, and defense. [Tesr - testis expressed scavenger receptor]
Data show that the transferrin receptor TfR1 provided transferrin (show Tf Antibodies) to the ureteric bud, but not to the capsule or the stroma, and that Scara5 bound serum ferritin (show FTL Antibodies) and then stimulated its endocytosis from the cell surface with consequent iron delivery.
Results demonstrate the involvement of SCARA3 (show SCARA3 Antibodies) and SCARA5 in the uptake of PF14-oligonucleotide nanocomplexes.
Data show that decidualization was associated with increased expression of 428 genes including SCARA5 (181-fold), DKK1 (show DKK1 Antibodies) (71-fold) and PROK1 (show Prok1 Antibodies) (32-fold), and decreased expression of 230 genes including MMP-7 (show MMP7 Antibodies) (35-fold) and SFRP4 (show SFRP4 Antibodies) (21-fold).
Ferritin receptor that mediates non-transferrin- dependent delivery of iron. Mediates cellular uptake of ferritin- bound iron by stimulating ferritin endocytosis from the cell surface with consequent iron delivery within the cell. Delivery of iron to cells by ferritin is required for the development of specific cell types, suggesting the existence of cell type- specific mechanisms of iron traffic in organogenesis, which alternatively utilize transferrin or non-transferrin iron delivery pathways. Ferritin mediates iron uptake in capsule cells of the developing kidney. Binds preferrentially ferritin light chain (FTL) compared to heavy chain (FTH1) (By similarity).
