  1. Tex11 regulates genome-wide recombination rates in both sexes in a dosage-dependent manner. An intronless autosomal Tex11 transgene functionally substitutes for the X-linked Tex11 gene, providing genetic evidence for the X-to-autosomal retrotransposition evolution phenomenon.

  4. Zip4h (Tex11), a male germ cell specific X-linked gene was isolated. Zip4h(-/Y) mutant mice were fertile. Analysis of spermatocytes revealed a delay in meiotic double strand break repair and decreased crossover formation.

  5. Tex11 was first identified from mouse spermatogonia and was specifically expressed in mouse testis.
