Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Sections) (IHC (p)), Radioimmunoassay (RIA), Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA), Functional Studies (Func)

Clone

IN-05
  • Specificity

The antibody reacts with insulin, one of the major regulatory endocrine hormones of intermediate metabolism, normally secreted by the beta cells (a type of islet cells) of the pancreas, it is also present in tumors of B cell origin such as insulinoma. The antibody IN-05 blocks binding of Insulin to the receptor.

    Purification

    Affinity Chromatography on Protein A.

    Immunogen

    Porcine Insulin

    Isotype

    IgG1
  • Application Notes

Immunohistochemistry on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue sections. Immunocytochemistry. ELISA. RIA. Functional Applications (The antibody blocks binding of insulin to the receptor).
    Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

    Restrictions

    For Research Use only
  • Concentration

    1.0 mg/mL

    Buffer

Phosphate buffered saline (PBS), pH ~7.3 with 15 mM Sodium Azide as presrevative.

    Sodium azide

    Precaution of Use

This product contains sodium azide: a POISONOUS AND HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE which should be handled by trained staff only.

    Handling Advice

    Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

    Storage

    4 °C/-20 °C

    Storage Comment

Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8 °C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20 °C for longer.
  • Target

    Insulin (INS)

    Alternative Name

    Insulin

    Background

Insulin and glucagon are pancreatic endocrine hormones secreted by islet cells within the pancreas. The stimulus for insulin secretion is a HIGH blood glucose. Deficiency of insulin results in diabetes mellitus, one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the general population.Synonyms: INS
