APJ / Apelin Receptor, is an angiotensin-1-like receptor that is expressed abundantly in the corpus callosum and spinal cord. The human apelin receptor has been localized to chromosome 11. In porcine spinal cord, APJ mRNA was detected at a higher level in white matter than in gray matter. APJ binds apelin, which induces cell acidification. APJ expression has been reported in blood, brain, spinal cord, and vessel. ESTs have been isolated from brain, head/neck, lung, and placenta libraries.Synonyms: AGTRL1, APJ, APLNR, Angiotensin receptor-like 1, G-protein coupled receptor APJ, HG11
