Specificity: Human GT52 sequences shows about 61 % homology with rat Glut-5 (8/13 AA). For rat Glut-5, we suggest the use of antibodies that are made to a peptide from rat Glut-5. Antibody cross-reactivity in various species is not established. Control peptide, because of its low mol size (<3kD), is not recommended for Western. It should be used in ELISA, Dot Blot and for antibody blocking to confirm specificity of antibodies.

Purification: Immunoaffinity purified

Immunogen: A cytoplasmic 12 AA peptide sequence near the C-terminus of human glucose/fructose transporter (Glut-5) (1). A cysteine has been added at the NH2 terminus for coupling to KLH. The peptide was coupled to KLH.

Application Notes: Approved: ELISA (0.5 - 1 μg/mL), IF, IHC, WB (1 - 10 μg/mL)

Usage: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunofluorescence and Immunohistochemistry. Western Blot: 1-10 μg/mL (ECL). Rat glut-5 is ~60kD in rat jejunum membranes that is slightly larger that that reported for human glut-5 (50-55kD). As opposed to human tissues, rat glut-5 mRNA has not been detected in rat testis, adipose tissues and skeletal muscle. In rat kidney, a protein of ~42kD was detected. ELISA: 0.5-1 μg/mL. Control peptide can be used to coat ELISA plates at 1 μg/mL.
