    pSer33

    Specificity

The antibody detects endogenous level of p53 only when phosphorylated at serine 33.

    Purification

The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography usingepitope-specific phosphopeptide. The antibody against non-phosphopeptide was removedby chromatography using non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the phosphorylation site.

    Immunogen

Peptide sequence around phosphorylation site of pSer33 (V-L-S (p) -P-L) derived from Human p53. Antibodies were produced by immunizing rabbits with synthetic phosphopeptide and KLH conjugates.

    Isotype

    IgG

  • Target

    p53 (TP53) (Tumor Protein P53 (TP53))

    Alternative Name

    p53

    Background

Acts as a tumor suppressor in many tumor types, induces growth arrest or apoptosis depending on the physiological circumstances and cell type. Involved in cell cycle regulation as a trans-activator that acts to negatively regulate cell division by controlling a set of genes required for this process. One of the activated genes is an inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases. Apoptosis induction seems to be mediated either by stimulation of BAX and FAS antigen expression, or by repression of Bcl-2 expression. Implicated in Notch signaling cross-over.
