NPEPPS (puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase) is a zinc metallopeptidase which hydrolyzes amino acids from the N-terminus of its substrate. The protein has been localized to both the cytoplasm and to cellular membranes. Studies have suggested that NPEPPS is involved in proteolytic events essential for cell cycle, cell growth and viability. It has recently been identified as a modifier of tau-induced neurodegeneration.Synonyms: PSA, Puromycin-sensitive aminopeptidase
