Target
ALDH3A2
(Aldehyde Dehydrogenase 3 Family, Member A2 (ALDH3A2))
ALDH3A2 also known as Aldehyde dehydrogenase 10 or FALDH, catalyses the oxidation of long-chain fatty aliphatic aldehydes to fatty acids. Its substrate specificity includes a variety of saturated and unsaturated aliphatic aldehydes between 6 and 24 carbon atoms in length. Some mutations in the ALDH3A2 gene result in Sjoegren-Larsson Syndrome, a neurocutaneous disorder that is characterised by mental retardation (IQ less than 60), spastic di- or tetraplegia and congenital ichthyosis (increased keratinisation). Altered ALDH3A2 gene expression levels are associated with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders.Synonyms: Aldehyde dehydrogenase 10, Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 3 member A2, FALDH, Fatty aldehyde dehydrogenase, Microsomal aldehyde dehydrogenase
