DS-PB-01015 detects Harakiri (HRK), also known as DP5. HRK is a BH3 only protein of the Bcl-2 family, which promotes Bax dependent apoptosis. HRK regulates apoptosis through its interaction with the anti-apoptotic proteins Bcl-2 and Bcl-XL, and in conjunction to the mitochondrial pore forming protein p32. HRK is thought to have a specific role in initiating neuronal and haematopoietic cell apoptosis, in particular to growth factor deprivation. Aberrant methylation of HRK is frequently detected in primary colorectal cancers. Despite its predicted molecular weight, HRK often migrates at 12-15kD. reacts with: Rat, Mouse. Antibody reactivity and working conditions may vary between species.
