    Background
Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins (14-15 kDa) that bind long chain fatty acids, their CoA derivatives, billirubin, organic anions and other small hydrophobic molecules. I-FABP (or FABP-2) is found predominantly in the intestine and is believed to be involved in the intestinal absorption of long chain fatty acids.,Fatty Acid Binding Protein, Intestinal, FABP-2
