Antigen
Alternative Name CD83 (CD83 Antibody Abstract)
Background CD83 is a 43 kD single chain type I glycoprotein also known as HB15. A member of theimmunoglobulin superfamily, CD83 is expressed on a subset of dendritic cells,Langerhans cells, and weakly on activated lymphocytes. Although CD83 is thought toplay a role in antigen presentation and/or lymphocyte activation, the precise function ofthis protein is unknown. CD83 is considered to be a useful marker for mature dendriticcells. Alternate Names: anti-HB15 antibody.
Gene Symbol: CD83
Gene ID 9308
Research Area Immunology, CD Antigens, Adaptive Immunity, Surface Receptors of Immune Cells
Pathways TCR Signaling

Buffer Phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.2 % (w/v) BSA (origin USA), Sodium Azide
Preservative Sodium azide
Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
