Expression of ferritin (show FTL Proteins) subunits in glial cells of Drosophila melanogaster causes a late-onset behavioral decline, characterized by loss of circadian rhythms in constant darkness and impairment of elicited locomotor responses.
Mitoferrin (show SLC25A37 Proteins) overexpression upregulated Fer1HCH transcription.
heteropolymeric ferritin (show FTL Proteins) may facilitate plant cell absorption of both ferrous and ferric ions from soil more effectively than homopolymeric ferritin (show FTL Proteins). [H-1]
We did not find a significant relationship between H.pylori[Helicobacter pylori] infection and low serum Ferritin (show FTL Proteins) or iron deficiency anaemia.
This gene encodes the light subunit of the ferritin protein. Ferritin is the major intracellular iron storage protein in prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of 24 subunits of the heavy and light ferritin chains. Variation in ferritin subunit composition may affect the rates of iron uptake and release in different tissues. A major function of ferritin is the storage of iron in a soluble and nontoxic state. Defects in this light chain ferritin gene are associated with several neurodegenerative diseases and hyperferritinemia-cataract syndrome. This gene has multiple pseudogenes.
