Background
- Ionomycin is a calcium ionophore used in research to raise the intracellular level of calcium and as a tool to understand calcium transport across biological membranes. It is also used to stimulare the intracellular production of the cytokines interferon, perforin, IL-2 and IL-4. It is more specific than A23187.
