Application Notes
-
ELISA: To detect hBMP-2 by direct ELISA (using 100 l/well antibody solution) aconcentration of 0.15 - 0.30 μg/mL of this antibody is required. This antibody inconjunction with compatible secondary reagents, allows the detection of at least 0.2 ng/well of recombinant hBMP-2. Western Blot: To detect hBMP-2 by Western Blot analysis this antibody can be used at aconcentration of 0.1 - 0.2 μg/mL. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagentsthe detection limit for recombinant hBMP-2 is 1.5 -3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing ornon-reducing conditions.
Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. -
Restrictions
- For Research Use only
-
-
-
Reconstitution
- Restore in sterile PBS containing 0.1 % BSA to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/mL.
-
Buffer
- PBS, pH 7.2 without preservatives
-
Preservative
- Without preservative
-
Handling Advice
- Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
-
Storage
- 4 °C/-20 °C
-
Storage Comment
- Prior to reconstitution store at 2-8 °C. Following reconstitution store the antibody at -20 °C. For prolonged storage of reconstituted antibody solution we strongly recommend addition of a stabilizing protein (e.g. 0.5% BSA) and a preservative (e.g. Thimerosal or Sodium Azide).

Background
- BMP2 belongs to the transforming growth factor beta (TGFB) superfamily of secreted growth factors. It is a disulfide linked homodimer and induces bone and cartilage formation. In addition to its osteogenic activity, BMP2 plays an important role in cardiac morphogenesis and is expressed in a variety of tissues including lung, spleen, brain, liver, prostate ovary and small intestine. The functional form of BMP2 is a 26 kDa protein composed of two identical 114 amino acid polypeptide chains linked by a single disulfide bond. BMPs control fundamental events in early embryonic development, organogenesis and adult tissue homeostasis.Synonyms: BMP-2, BMP-2A, Bone morphogenetic protein 2
