    Background

    Synonyms: Cortexin-1, Cortexin1, Ctxn1, CTXN1_HUMAN, FLJ25968.

Background: Cortexin 1 and Cortexin 3 are single-pass membrane proteins. Cortexin 1 may be involved in mediating extracellular or intracellular signaling of cortical neurons during forebrain development. Cortexin 3 is specifically expressed in kidney and brain. Exsiting as two isoforms due alternative splicing, cortexin 3 may mediate extracellular or intracellular signaling in the kidney or brain.
