- TFAM (Transcription Factor A, Mitochondrial (TFAM))
-
Alternative Name
- Transcription factor A
-
Background
- Mitochondrial transcription factor A (mtTFA) is one of the most important transcription factors related to mitochondrial genes. In turn, mtTFA regulates several pathways for metabolism and energy storage in cells. In several metabolic diseases, including insulin-resistance related diabetes, the activity of mtTFA is directly linked to interactions with oxidative stress and fat cell differentiation.
