Specificity
- Recognizes human Sialic acid-binding Ig-like lectin 7, otherwise known as CD328, a putative adhesion molecule and member of the Ig superfamily, predominantly expressed by both resting and activated natural killer (NK) cells, and also at lower levels by monocytes, granulocytes, monocyte-derived macrophages and dendritic cells, and a small population of CD8+ memory T cells. Classified as a CD33-related Siglec, Siglec-7 preferentially binds to glycoconjugates containing alpha-2,3- or alpha-2,6-linked sialic acid, and acts as a novel inhibitory receptor for NK cells, mediating the inhibition of NK cell cytotoxicity, and implicated in the regulation of NK cell and T cell activation, and hematopoiesis. Clone S7.7 is a blocking antibody see for details, and has been shown to recognize Siglec-7 in Rhesus monkey see for details.
