Background
- Nop1p is the yeast homologue of fibrillarin found in a wide variety of organisms. In yeast, Nop1p is localized to the nucleolus and is essential for cell viability. Nop1p is found in small nuclear ribonucleoprotein particles (snRNP) of the nucleolus and is required for many post-transcriptional steps in yeast ribosome biosynthesis.
