                                            Background
- Neurofibromin is a tumor suppressor with GTPase activity that modulates the ras pathway. Defects in or deficiency of this protein can lead to neurofibromatosis disease which can result in tumor formation and abnormalities of multiple tissues derived from the embryonic neural crest.
