Background
- HNF-3b (Hepatocyte nuclear factor 3 beta, forkhead box A2, FoxA2) is a homeodomain containing transcription factor and is a member of the Hepatocyte Nuclear Factor family (HNF-1a, HNF-1b, HNF-3a, HNF-3b, HNF-3g, HNF-4a, HNF-4g, HNF-6a and HNF-6b), whose members regulate the transcription of numerous hepatocyte genes in adult liver. HNF-3 members bind to DNA as monomers using a winged helix DNA-binding domain. HNF-3a and HNF-3g have also been shown to be involved in gastrulation events such as body axis formation.
