Background
The protein encoded by this gene binds to the cytoplasmic tail of CD2, an effector of T cell activation and adhesion, negatively affecting CD2-triggered T cell activation. The encoded protein appears to be a scaffold protein and a regulator of the actin cytoskeleton. It has also been shown to bind ABL1, PTPN18, WAS, CD2AP, and PTPN12. Mutations in this gene are a cause of PAPA syndrome. Protein Interaction Partner: RTP5, TRAF3IP3, FBXL18, SH2D4A, PCDHB14, UBE2W, FAM90A1, PRPF31, LSM4, BUB3, ZNF175, TULP3, SPG7, SDCBP, MVP, WASL, DNM2, MED28, SHBG, KHDRBS1, WAS, TUBB, WIPF1, HSPA1A, CARS, ACTB, PTPN18, WASF2, WASF1, CD2AP, PTPN12, MEFV, ABL1, CD2, FASLG, BZW2, RPL36, Protein Size: 397
