IRAK-M, an IRAK type protein kinase, is a signal transducer for the immune response Toll-like receptor and interleukin-1 (IL-1) receptor signaling cascades. IRAK-M is immediately downstream of the MyD88 adapter protein and immediately upstream of TRAF6. At least three mRNA transcripts have been reported - an approximately 8-kb doublet and a 2.5-kb transcript that matched isolated cDNA. IRAK-M (-/-) mice have increased inflammatory responses to bacterial infection.Synonyms: IL-1 receptor-associated kinase M, IRAK-3, IRAK-M, Interleukin-1 receptor-associated kinase 3
