Immunohistochemistry (Frozen Sections) (IHC (fro))
  • Specificity

This antibody specifically recognises epitopes encoded by exons v3-v10 on the variant portion of CD44.

    Purification

    Purified

    Immunogen

    Recombinant human CD44v3-v10

    Isotype

    IgG
  • Application Notes

Immunohistochemistry on frozen sections: 50g/mL. Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections: 20g/mL, requires antigen retrieval using heattreatment prior to staining of paraffin sections. Sodium citrate buffer pH 6.0 isrecommended for this purpose. Positive Control: Breast carcinoma and colon adenocarcinoma.
    Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

    Background

CD44 is a ubiquitously expressed type 1 transmembrane glycoprotein and proteoglycan, otherwise known as phagocytic glycoprotein 1 (pgp 1), which acts as a receptor for the major extracellular matrix component hyaluronate, and also binds other ligands including collagen and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). CD44 is known to play a role in cell-cell interactions, cell adhesion, the activation and homing of lymphocytes, cell migration, haematopoiesis and metastasis, and exists as a number of isoforms generated by the alternative RNA splicing of at least 10 variant exons (CD44v).Synonyms: CD44, CDw44, ECMR-III, Epican, Extracellular matrix receptor-III, GP90 lymphocyte homing/adhesion receptor, HUTCH-I, Heparan sulfate proteoglycan, Hermes antigen, Hyaluronate receptor, LHR, MDU2, MDU3, MIC4, PGP-1, Phagocytic glycoprotein I
