  • Purpose

    Sheep antibody to proBDNF

    Specificity

    Specific for proBDNF.

    Cross-Reactivity

    Mouse, Rat

    Cross-Reactivity (Details)

    Other species not yet tested.

    Purification

    IgG

    Immunogen

A synthetic peptide from rat proBDNF conjugated to blue carrier protein was used as the antigen. The peptide is homologous in mouse and zebrafish and shares 96% identity with human sequence.

    Isotype

    IgG
  • Application Notes

IHC WB. A concentration of 10-50 μg,ml is recommended. The optimal concentration should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.

    Restrictions

    For Research Use only
  • Format

    Lyophilized

    Reconstitution

Reconstitute in 500 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.

    Handling Advice

    Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.

    Storage

    4 °C,-20 °C

    Storage Comment

Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8C for a shorter term. When reconstituting glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.

    Expiry Date

    12 months
  • Target

Pro BDNF (proBDNF) (Pro-Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor (proBDNF))

    Alternative Name

    proBDNF

    Background

FUNCTION: Promotes the survival of neuronal populations that are all located either in the central nervous system or directly connected to it. Major regulator of synaptic transmission and plasticity at adult synapses in many regions of the CNS. The versatility of BDNF is emphasized by its contribution to a range of adaptive neuronal responses including long-term potentiation (LTP) long-term depression (LTD) certain forms of short-term synaptic plasticity as well as homeostatic regulation of intrinsic neuronal excitability. SUBUNIT: Monomers and homodimers. Binds to NTRK2/TRKB. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Secreted.
