    Cyclin E2

    Background

Cyclin E2 is a novel gene that encodes a protein, which is elevated in cells expressing a papilloma viral oncogene. Cyclin E1 and cyclin E2 can associate with and activate CDK2 whose activity is restricted to the G1-S phase of the cell cycle, and is essential for the G1/S transition.
