    Western Blotting (WB)
    Cross-Reactivity (Details)
Cross reactivity with PAK from other species has not been determined.
    Purification
Anti-PAK 1/2/3 pT402 antibody is directed against rat PAK protein. The antibody was affinity purified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity purification and is specific for the phosphorylated protein. The immunolabeling of PAK is completely eliminated by lambda-phosphatase treatment. Reactivity is expected from the following species based on 100% sequence homology: bovine, canine, human and mouse.
    Immunogen

Immunogen: Anti-PAK 1/2/3 pT402 Antibody was produced by repeated immunizations with a synthetic phospho-peptide corresponding to amino acid residues surrounding Thr402.

    Immunogen Type: Peptide

  • Application Notes

Application Note: Anti-PAK 1/2/3 pT402 Antibody is suitable for use in Western Blotting. Specific conditions for reactivity should be optimized by the end user. Expect a band of approximately 68-70 kDa in size corresponding to PAK proteins phosphorylated at Thr402 in the appropriate cell lysate or extract.

Background: PAK 1/2/3 pT402 Antibody detects PAK 1/2/3 pT402 proteins. In mammals, there are several identified isoforms of p21-activated protein kinases or PAKs: α-PAK (also known as PAK-1) and β-PAK (also known as PAK-3) are mostly brain-specific, while -PAK (also known as PAK-2) is expressed ubiquitously. Mutations of the gene coding for PAK-3 are associated with X-linked mental retardation and recent work indicates that PAK-3 is a key regulator of synapse formation and plasticity in the hippocampus. PAK-3 is thought to play a key role in regulation of cell shape and motility as well as cell death. Autophosphorylation of Thr402 in the protein has been found to be essential for activation of PAK. Anti-PAK 1/2/3 pT402 Antibody is ideal for investigators involved in Neuroscience and Apoptosis research.
