    Background

ZMYM3 (UniProt/Swiss-Prot entry Q14202) is component of histone deacetylase-containing multiprotein complexes which maintain heterochromatin by modifying chromatin structure. ZMYM3 plays a role in the regulation of cell morphology and cytoskeletal organization. A chromosomal translocation (X,13) involving the ZMYM3 gene is associated with X-linked mental retardation.
