Specificity:

The antibody specifically binds to the pentapeptide FEDVW of the Duffy Antigen Receptor for Chemokines (DARC). The epitope is located on the N-terminal region on the RBC surface membrane. DARC is a glycoprotein chemokine receptor and the only known receptor for Plasmodium vivax.

Application Notes original Clone: The original antibody (mouse IgG1) was generated and used successfully in ELISA, FC, and inhibition assays, blocking DARC and IL-8 binding. The antibody's epitope was also characterized (Wasniowska et al., 2002, PMID: 12164140). This antibody was successfully used in a WB (Czerwinski et al., 2007 (PMID: 17382291), Smolarek et al., 2015 (PMID: 25706384)). This antibody was successfully used to inhibit P. Vivax invasion (Russell et al., 2011 (PMID: 21768300), Urusova et al., 2019 (PMID: 31133752)).

Characteristics: This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
