Application
Clone
-
-
Purpose
- Anti-Transferrin receptor [R17 217.1.3], Rabbit IgG, kappa
-
Specificity
- The transferrin receptor is necessary for cellular iron uptake by the process of receptor-mediated endocytosis. Mice that are deficient in this receptor show impaired erythroid development and abnormal iron homeostasis.
-
Characteristics
-
Original Species of Ab: Rat
Original Format of Ab: IgG2a
-
Purification
- Protein A affinity purified
-
Immunogen
- The antibody was obtained from a fusion of the murine myeloma S 194/5.XXO.BU. 1 with spleen cells from a BDIX rat immunized with the Friend erythroleukemia 745.6.
-
Isotype
- IgG kappa

Application Notes
- R17 217.1.3 was used in conjunction with flow cytometry to identify murine hematopoietic progenitor cells expressing the transferrin receptor (Lesley et al, 1984). Injection of mice with R17 217.1.3 results in CD71+ erythroid splenocyte cell depletion (Torow et al, 2015).

Comment
-
This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Rat IgG2a format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
