Purpose
- Anti-CD106 [B-K9 (C106-K9)], Rabbit IgG, kappa
-
Specificity
- B-K9 antibody recognizes CD106 (VCAM1). CD106 is a member of the Ig superfamily. It is a cell surface sialoglycoprotein expressed by cytokine-activated endothelium. This type I membrane protein mediates leukocyte-endothelial cell adhesion and signal transduction, and may play a role in the development of artherosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Application Notes
- B-K9 antibody inhibits the binding of leukocytes to VCAM-1 on stimulated endothelial cells, and thus it blocks the ability of white blood cells to attach themselves to the activated epithelium during, for instance, inflammation. Consequently, this antibody might be used in research where leukocytes adhesion-blocking is required (Uotila et al., 2014, Wagner et al. 2011).
