- FOLR3 (Folate Receptor 3 (Gamma) (FOLR3))
-
Alternative Name
- FOLR3
-
Background
- Folate receptor gamma, FR-gamma, Folate receptor 3FOLR3 encodes a member of the folate receptor (FOLR) family of proteins, which have a high affinity for folic acid and for several reduced folic acid derivatives, and mediate delivery of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate to the interior of cells. Expression of FOLR3 may be elevated in ovarian and primary peritoneal carcinoma. FOLR3 is present in a gene cluster on chromosome 11. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. FOLR3 (Folate Receptor 3) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with FOLR3 include Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma. Among its related pathways are Innate Immune System and Antifolate resistance.
