Background
Alpha-1-acid glycoprotein 1, AGP 1, Orosomucoid-1, OMD 1ORM1 (Orosomucoid 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Diseases associated with ORM1 include Dry Eye Syndrome and Pediatric Multiple Sclerosis. Among its related pathways are Response to elevated platelet cytosolic Ca2+ and Innate Immune System. An important paralog of this gene is ORM2. ORM1 encodes a key acute phase plasma protein. Because of its increase due to acute inflammation, this protein is classified as an acute-phase reactant. The specific function of this protein has not yet been determined, however, it may be involved in aspects of immunosuppression.
