Background
Thimet oligopeptidase, Endopeptidase 24.15, MP78Thimet Oligopeptidase 1 encoded by THOP1 is a kininase that uses zinc as a cofactor. The encoded oligopeptidase cleaves cytosolic peptides, making them unavailable for display on antigen-presenting cells. Thimet Oligopeptidase 1 also cleaves neuropeptides under 20 aa in length and can degrade beta-amyloid precursor protein to amyloidogenic peptides. THOP1 (Thimet Oligopeptidase 1) is a Protein Coding gene. Among its related pathways are African trypanosomiasis and ACE Inhibitor Pathway, Pharmacodynamics.
