Background
Background: DNA-PKcs is the catalytic subunit of a DNA-dependent serine-threonine protein kinase (DNA-PK). DNA-PK is a heterotrimer comprised of DNA-PKcs and the Ku709/Ku86 dimer. DNA-PK is involved in DNA damage repair and V(D)J recombination. DNA-PK phosphorylates Artemis, a protein required for nonhomologous end-joining and is necessary for the loading of Artemis on damaged DNA.
