    Background

Background: TNIK (TRAF2 and NCK-interacting protein kinase) is a serine threonine kinase that acts as an essential activator of the Wnt signaling pathway. TNIK is recruited to promoters of Wnt target genes and is required to activate Wnt target genes expression. TNIK may also play a role in the response to environmental stress and appears to act upstream of the JUN N-terminal pathway [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) Q9UKE5].
