  • Target

    MAP4 (Microtubule-Associated Protein 4 (MAP4))

    Alternative Name

    MAP4

    Background

Background: Microtubule-associated protein 4 (MAP4) is part of the structural MAP2/Tau family of microtubule-binding proteins which includes MAP2, Tau, and MAP4. MAP4 is widely-expressed in various non-neuronal tissues. However, a neural-cell specific variant generated by alternative splicing has been identified. MAP4 is multifunctional and plays a role in regulating mitotic microtubule dynamics. It associates with cyclin B1 and is regulated via its phosphorylation by cdk2.
