    Alternative Name

    PCM1

    Background

Background: PCM1 (pericentriolar material protein 1) is involved in centrosomal trafficking and may function to transport centrosomal proteins to the centrosome along microtubules. Knockdown of PCM1 results in defects in centrosomal assembly, cell cycle arrest in G0 or G1, and activation of the p38-dependent stress pathway and the p53-dependent cell cycle checkpoint. PCM1 is implicated in the susceptibility to schizophrenia.
