Background
- Background: Beclin 1 was initially identified as a Bcl-2 interacting protein. Beclin 1 has been found to play a role in autophagy, the process whereby cellular structures, organelles, and intracellular pathogens undergo degradation. As an interacting protein of Bcl-2, beclin is able to influence Bcl-2 to function as an autophagy protein.
