Background: Background: KNTC1 (kinetochore-associated protein 1) is the human ortholog of the drosophila rough deal (ROD) protein. Similarly, human ROD (KNTC1) is proposed to function as a mitotic checkpoint protein present in multiprotein complexes of the kinetochore.
