    Background
Background: KNTC1 (kinetochore-associated protein 1) is the human ortholog of the drosophila rough deal (ROD) protein. Defects in the drosophila ROD protein result in chromosome missegregation. Similarly, human ROD (KNTC1) is proposed to function as a mitotic checkpoint protein present in multiprotein complexes of the kinetochore.
