    Background
Background: FBXO31 (F-box only protein 31) is a member of the F-box family of proteins and a component of the SCF (SKP1-cullin-F-box) protein ligase complex. FBXO31 is a candidate tumor suppressor protein that displays loss of heterozygosity in breast, ovarian, hepatocellular, and prostate cancers. In the DNA damage response FBXO31 has been found to mediate the degradation of cyclin D1 via a proteasome-directed pathway.
