  • Target

    Prohibitin (PHB)

    Alternative Name

    Prohibitin

    Background

Background: Prohibitin (PHB) has been identified as a tumor suppressor protein that can repress E2F-mediated transcription and arrest cell cycle progression. It has recently been shown to associate with members of the minichromosome maintenance complex such as MCM2, MCM5, and MCM7 and therefore is thought to impart its growth inhibitory effects via association with the replication machinery. Prohibitin is also implicated in regulating mitochondrial respiration and playing a role in aging.
