    Extracellular Domain

    Purpose

    Anti-N-cadherin [8C11], Rabbit IgG, kappa

    Specificity

This antibody recognizes human, rabbit and hamster extracellular domain of N-cadherin. It does not cross react with this protein in mouse, rat cow and pig. N-cadherin is a calcium-dependent cell adhesion protein.

    Cross-Reactivity

    Hamster, Rabbit

    Characteristics

    Original Species of Ab: Mouse

    Original Format of Ab: IgG1

    Purification

    Protein A affinity purified

    Immunogen

This antibody was raised by immunizing mice with an extracellular domain of the recombinant human N-cadherin.

    Isotype

    IgG kappa
  • Application Notes

8C11 antibody inhibits cells' motility, as it blocks extracellular domain of N-cadherin which is responsible for this function (Kim et al., 2000). This antibody has also been widely used in the detection and analysis of N-cadherin. For instance, it was utilized to identify this protein in A549 cells via immunofluorescence (Shintani et al., 2011). Another group used successfully 8C11 to analyze the levels of N-cadherin expression via Western blot (Chen et al., 2015). Finally, this antibody was used to label N-cadherin in tumor tissues of a metastasis model via immunohistochemistry (Li et al., 2019).

    Comment

This chimeric rabbit antibody was made using the variable domain sequences of the original Mouse IgG1 format, for improved compatibility with existing reagents, assays and techniques.
