Truncated recombinant mouse Beclin-1 conjugated to blue carrier protein has been used as the antigen. The antigen shares 99% identity with human and rat sequences.
IHC WB. Use at a dilution of 1 : 1000. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.

Background
Autophagy is the process by which endogenous proteins and damaged organelles are destroyed intracellularly. Autophagy is postulated to be essential for cell homeostasis and cell remodeling during differentiation metamorphosis non-apoptotic cell death and aging. Reduced levels of autophagy have been described in some malignant tumors and a role for autophagy in controlling the unregulated cell growth linked to cancer has been proposed. It may play a role in antiviral host defense. Protects against infection by a neurovirulent strain of Sindbis virus. May play a role in autophagy. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm. Golgi apparatus membrane, Peripheral membrane protein. Note: Expressed in dendrites and cell bodies of cerebellar Purkinje cells TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Ubiquitous
