VAMP2
(Vesicle-Associated Membrane Protein 2 (Synaptobrevin 2) (VAMP2))
Alternative Name
VAMP-2
Background
Synaptobrevin 2 (Vesicle-associated membrane, VAMP2), which is an 18 kDa integral membrane proteinlocalized to the cytoplasmic surface of synaptic vesicle, consists of a proline-rich N-terminal region, a highlyconserved hydrophilic domain, followed by a transmembrane anchor and a C-terminal tail. Synaptobrevin 2 ispredominantly expressed in Langerhans islets and glomerular cells. The N-terminal domain of the protein forms aspecific SNARE complex with the target membrane-associated t- or Q-SNAREs syntaxin 1 and SNAP-25.This antibody recognizes specifically synaptobrevin 2, but it also shows a low affinity to synaptobrevin1.
